Feeling Fancy

Blouse (Gap); Sweater (Marshalls); Jeans (Express); Earrings (Nordstrom); Pearls (JCPenney); Bangles (Banana Republic Outlet)

We all have those pieces in our closets reserved for special occasions.  Maybe they have some sparkle, are covered in sequins, or are just fancier than what you'd typically wear on a given weekday...  And usually these items sit in our closets until there is a party, wedding, or "event".  Seriously what are we saving these things for?!  You can dress down these items by pairing them with jeans, a denim vest, T-shirt, etc - and  easily expand your wardrobe by rotating these special occasion pieces into everyday wear.  That's the story of my black sequin sweater, formerly only worn once on New Year's Eve... which I solemnly swear won't happen again!

I have the same problem - I tend to save tose 'fancier' items for fancier occasions, but then they hardly get worn! Thanks for the reminder that they can work for everyday too!

I like sparkles for day time! You've worn it in such a way that looks completely casual and comfortable.

I love this idea, because I have so many pieces like this that just sit in my closet. I need to give them the light of day! Haha. I love your shoes too. :)

I totally have pieces that I reserve for "special occasions", and I agree that it is silly. Whenever I do dress them down and where them on a normal day, I end up loving it. I need to do that more. Love you sequins :)

I'm so with you on this! I used to only wear my pretty dress, etc on special occasions but I realized that's so silly. Why would I wear the pieces I love most the least amount of times? Love your sweater!

I know exactly what you're talking about. My problem is though, that all my "save it for special occasions" pieces are maxi dresses, which only can be used for summer, because of their floral print in totally pastel colors. If you saw my collection of those dresses, you would understand, why I don't wear them for work, ha ha.

By the way, thank you very much for your comment at my blog. I've made a new post about the new MAC products, I bought monday. Please go take a look:
